Obituary for Louis "Lou" Howarth

Louis “Lou” “Laserman” Howarth, age 75, peacefully passed away at his home on Sunday, February 19, 2023. Born in South River to the late Louis and Pearl Howarth, Lou was a lifelong resident of the borough. After graduating from South River High School, he enlisted in the US Air Force, specializing in what would eventually become his longtime profession. Mr. Howarth later went on to work with AGL Corporation for many years in Construction Lazer Repair. He was an avid collector of records, amassing an impressive collection of singles throughout his life. He also spent time as a DJ and loved bowling in his younger years. He was a good man and will be missed by his dear family and friends.

Lou is predeceased by his parents and his sister Barbara Knoblock, as well as her husband Richard Knoblock. Surviving are his siblings and their spouses Ronald Howarth of Pemberton, Bruce and Annette Howarth of FL, Joyce and James Billerman of South River, Dawn Allyson Kotora of South River, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Calling hours will take place on Monday from 4pm to 8pm at the M.A. Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Avenue, South River with prayers scheduled for 7pm. Burial will be private to family only.

It is Lou’s request, his demand, that NO ONE SEND FLOWERS TO THE FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lou’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org/donations.
