Obituary for Lorraine E Holmes (Glover)

Lorraine E. Holmes, age 94, formerly of Parlin, passed away peacefully at The Reformed Church Home in Old Bridge with her loving family by her side on Thursday, April 22, 2021. Bornin Bayonne, she had lived in Parlin before moving to Lakewood several years ago. Before her retirement, Lorraine was the head dietician at South Amboy Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters for 55 years and the Altar Rosary Society at St. Bernadette’s in Parlin. Lorraine was an active member in the Fairway Community Women’s Club, the Baci Club, and loved ceramics. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, and cooking and baking for everyone. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s RC Church in South Amboy.

She is predeceased by her husband Robert, her beloved sons Robert and Thomas, her son-in-law John Waldron, her sister and brother-in-law Mary Jane & Joseph Pluscauski, sister-in-law Irene Holmes, brother-in-law Edward Holmes, her cousin Bib and her companion of many years John Sesody.

Surviving are her daughters and their husbands Sharon O’Hare and William, Mary Beth Woolf and Paul, Barbara Ann Waldron, 8 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday 8:45am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane with a 9:30am funeral Mass to follow at St. Mary’s RC Church in South Amboy. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Amboy.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to EWTN Global Catholic Television 5817 Old Leeds Road Irondale, AL 35210.
