Obituary for Lillian Kurek (Marczak)

Our world is a sadder place today, for we’ve lost the wonderful, kind, loving woman we called Nana. On Thursday, April 15, 2021 Lillian Dzielak Kurek nee Marczak, of Waymart, PA, formerly of South Amboy, Sayreville and Keyport, New Jersey, passed beyond the pain and curtailed mobility she endured for the last few years of her life to a reunion with her many loved ones who have gone before. She was 95 years old.
Lillian, the daughter of the late Adam and Catherine Maliszewski Marczak, was predeceased by four brothers: Adrian Marczak, Adam Marczak, Arthur Marczak, and Alfonso Marczak; and four sisters: Florence Thomas, Catherine Zambrowski, Dorothy Murasko, and Constance Mackiel. She also suffered the loss of her first husband Chester Dzielak, her second husband Joseph Kurek, and her only son Joseph Edward Dzielak.
Lillian is survived by her sister Rita Ferenci of NJ, her daughter Maryann Szabadics and husband Steven Szabadics of NH, her daughter Joanne Dzielak of PA, her daughter-in-law Charlene Dzielak of NJ, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 6 stepchildren: Michael, Joseph, Mark, Mary, Cathy and Elizabeth and the numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A devout Catholic, Lillian attended mass daily at St Mary's church in Waymart, Pa where she had been living with her daughter Joanne and family. Though she suffered much loss throughout her long life, she took it all philosophically and rarely complained. She was always smiling, always ready to open her arms to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was Nana Banana to the little ones, always having one to give them when they came to visit. She was so warm, so loving, so accepting of mistakes that others might make, we could always count on her steadfast heart. Sadly, the day has finally come that her beautiful heart could no longer sustain her life, and the Lord has called her home.

Goodbye, Nana, we love you and will never forget you. Rest easy, we’ll be ok until we meet again.

A future burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Parlin. All other services are private under the direction of Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, NJ.
