Obituary for Leonard J Blaska

Leonard J. Blaska, age 75 of Toms River, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 21, 2023. Born in New Brunswick, he had lived in South River for most of his life, before moving to Toms River 7 years ago. Before his retirement, Lenny worked as a supervisor with the NJ Turnpike Authority in East Brunswick. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church in South River, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. Lenny was a great collector of art and antiques. He loved a good cigar, a nice glass of red wine and a great steak, but most of all, he loved his two nieces and his great-niece and great-nephews. They were his pride and joy and he loved nothing more than spending time with them.
He is predeceased by his parents Leonard and Stella.
Surviving are his loving sister Barbara Koch and her husband Russell, his beloved nieces Nancy Nilles and her husband Greg, JoAnn Layton and her husband Joseph, his cherished great-niece and great-nephews Lindsey, Connor and Donovan, his cousin and best-friend Diane Novik and many other loving cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be Tuesday 9:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Ave., South River, with a 10:00am Mass at St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church in South River. A private cremation will follow.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lenny’s name may be made to the St. Mary’s Church Repair Fund 30 Jackson St. South River, NJ 08882.
