Obituary for Leon R "Hutch" Witkowski

East Brunswick
Leon R. “Hutch” Witkowski, age 70, of East Brunswick, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Brunswick, he was a lifelong resident of South River. He attended South River High School and was the first player to score 1000 points in SR basketball history. Hutch majored in History at Lafayette College and was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees Fan. Before his retirement, Hutch worked for Middlesex County Public Works as well as Sonny’s Bar & Grill in South River. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church in South River.

He is predeceased by his parents Leon “Sonny” and Edna, his son Lee Lee “Beaners,” his sister Judith Schmidt, and his father-in-law Raymond Losiewicz.

Surviving are his loving wife, the former Sandra Losiewicz; his step-children Dennis and Jennifer Nowicki; grandchildren Coral Ludwig, Summer, Brielle, and Skye Nowicki; brother and sister-in-law James & Sharon Witkowski and brother-in-law Andrew Schmidt; his nieces and nephews Jimmy and Julie Witkowski, Leigh Anne Schmidt & Brandon Epstein, Dana Schmidt & Stefan Grueter; mother-in-law Ceil Losiewicz; and sisters-in-law Charlotte and husband John Fetyko and Riki Losiewicz.
