Obituary for Joseph Skwiat

Sayreville
Joseph R. Skwiat, age 66 of Sayreville passed away Saturday, August 8, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Brunswick, he was a lifelong resident of Sayreville. Before his retirement, Joe worked for Grainger in Robinsville for several years. Joe was an avid Mets and Islanders fan and rarely left the house without a Mets or Islanders shirt or hat. He was a true fan to the orange and blue! He loved spending time with his wife and children, especially at their lake house, where he was fondly called “sleeveless Joe.” Joe was a communicant of Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville.
He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Stella Skwiat.
Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, the former Deborah Petrie, his cherished children Christopher, Matthew, Allison and her partner Gary Nowicki, his brother Gary and his wife Karen, his niece Jenna and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will take place Wednesday at 10:30am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main St. Sayreville, with an 11am Mass to follow at Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville. A private cremation will follow.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm.
