Obituary for Joseph Kelly

Joseph J. Kelly, age 73 of Sayreville passed away peacefully on Saturday January 2, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side. Born in Jersey City, Joe lived in Sayreville most of his life. Joe graduated from Sayreville High School in 1965. Before his retirement Joe worked for the Borough of Sayreville Police Department for over 35 years. Mr. Kelly proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Army Airborne. Joe was a member of the Sayreville Knights of Columbus Council 2061, a member of the PBA 98, he was the past Ranger Master and worked for Spezzi Funeral Home for 15 years.

Joe is predeceased by his parents Joseph & Ester Kelly. Surviving is his beloved wife of 49 years Joanne (Cassidy) and his adored children Jason Kelly and Jaime & her husband Sean Sullivan, his much loved granddaughters & partners in crime Kaleigh Jo & Khloe Rae as well as his siblings and their spouses Raymond & Louise Kelly and Michael & Cyndee Kelly, his brother and sisters in laws Kathleen & Wayne Bradley, Ginny & Chuck Burke, Raymond Cassidy and Patricia & Larry Laudien as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 8:45am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin, followed by a 9:30am mass at Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church with a PRIVATE burial at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery. Callings hours at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin, NJ on Wednesday, from 3pm -7pm.

Due to current Covid 19 restrictions, please note that a maximum of 100 visitors will be allowed in the funeral home at once and masks must be worn at all times. We encourage visitors to limit their time in the building to allow the family the maximum number of guests possible.
