Obituary for Jose Alvarez Sr.
Jose Alvarez Sr., 97 years old of Parlin, passed away on Friday February 24, 2023 at home, peacefully surrounded by his family. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador to the late Eduardo & Gregoria Alvarez he came to America in 1961, living in Staten Island, NY, where he and his wife Isabel started their beautiful family. He then moved to Parlin over 20 years ago. Jose will be remembered for his eye to detail, his artistic abilities and love for his family. He will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He is predeceased by his parents Eduardo & Gregoria Alvarez and his sisters Carmen & Targelia. Surviving is his beloved wife of 72 years Isabel, his children and spouses Carlos & Deiby Alvarez, Silvia & Rudy Suazo, Jose Jr & Katty Alvarez and Marcos & Anita Alvarez. His 9 grandchildren: Christopher, Katie & John, Gabrielle, Vivian & Christian Baez, Jonathan & Bryant, Nicholas, Lauren & Jordan, Natalie and Jocelyn & Curtis as well as 7 great grandchildren and brothers Enrique Alvarez and Arturo Alvarez and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will take place Wednesday day at 10:15am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with a 11am Mass at Sacred Heart RC Church in South Amboy. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Jose’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
