Jose Lago Sendon, age 79, of Jersey City, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2019 at The Venetian Care and Rehabilitation Center in South Amboy surrounded by his loving family. Born in Muros, Spain, Jose resided in Jersey City for over 60 years where he was married and raised his family. Before his retirement, Mr. Lago was employed as a longshoreman at Port Elizabeth, also spending months at sea with the Merchant Marines. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Jose is predeceased by his parents Jose & Maria Lago Formosa, and by his sister Ventura Lago. Surviving is his beloved wife of 53 years, Lillian Lago (Fuentealba) of Jersey City; his loving sons and their spouses Robert & Maria Lago of Parlin, and Juan Carlos & Saskia Lago of MI; his dear grandchildren Alexander & Athena of Parlin, and Tristan & Gabriel of MI; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews in Spain, Chile, and Michigan.

Calling hours will take place on Friday from 4pm to 8pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with services scheduled for 6pm. A private cremation will follow.
