John F. Vee age 88 of the Parlin section of Sayreville passed away Friday April 10, 2015 at his home with his loving and devoted family at his side. Born in Jersey City he has resided in Parlin since 1955. John was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Sayreville Knights of Columbus Council 2061. Formerly served as President of Local 480 IUE, chartered in 1950, representing the workers at Emerson Radio & TV in Jersey City and Emerson Quite Kool in Avenel, until that local merged with Local 332. Before being President of Local 480 he helped formed and co-chaired their Civil Rights Committee.

During his 50 years of service with IUE, he had served as Delegate to the Radio & TV Conference Board, Multi-Employer Conference Board and Amalgamated Locals Conference Board. He appeared as a witness before the Federal Trade Commission to testify on the impact of foreign imports on the radio and television industries. John has served as a Vice President of the New Jersey State AFL-CIO and their representative in the P.I.P. Personal Input Program. In addition to participating in all IUE Marches such as Solidarity Day activities, John was there for the famous Martin Luther King March on Washington and took part in the famous Woolworth Sit-Down for fair access. Combining labor and community activism, John has been active on such fronts as: Labor Chairman for Jersey City Fire Department collection of Toys For Tots; Labor Chairman for Jersey City American Red Cross; Chairman of NJ American Red Cross Blood Drive; Arranged for donations of electronics to benefit St. Joseph’s Home For The Blind; As an industrial engineer, he was the representative for Local 480 in all time study disputes. In 1949 he discovered the two loves of his life, the IUE and his greatest, his wife, Elsie who he then married

He is predeceased by his wife Elsie Cole Vee in 2005, his parents Jacque & Philomena Vizzacchero, his siblings Louis, Anthony, Edward, Peter and Jennie Vizzacchero. Surviving are his children and their spouses John F. & Noreen Vee Jr. of South Amboy and JoAnn & Kenneth Leon of Sayreville, his grandchildren Kelly Leon, Kenneth Leon Jr. and his wife Kristen, Korie Vee and Kaylin Vee, and his great grandson Ethan Alexander.

Funeral services will Tuesday 8:45am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin followed by a 9:30am Mass at Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church with entombment to follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Woodbridge.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Monday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. The family requests that donations in John’s memory be made to Sayreville Association of Brain Injured Children, 251 Jernee Mill Road, Sayreville, N.J. 08872.
