John H. “Harry” Guthmiller, age 81 of Whiting, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Power Back Rehabilitaiton in Piscataway. Born in Newark, he had lived in Roselle and Linden before moving to Whiting 20 years ago. Before his retirement, Harry worked at PSE&G in Linden for over 25 years. He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Whiting.
He is predeceased by his wife Mary Lou, his son Brendan and his sister Mary Grace Effert.
Surviving are his sons John and his wife Cecelia, Brian and his wife Yuviza, his daughter-in-law Ama Korkor, his grandchildren Nicole, Daniel, Ford, John Thomas, and Christopher and his great-granddaughter Lilly.
Calling hours at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, will be Thursday from 4pm to 8pm. A private cremation will follow. Inurnment of ashes will take place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting at a later date.
