Obituary for John J. Cafarella
Parlin
John J. Cafarella, age 66, of the Parlin section of Old Bridge, peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday, May 27, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New York City, NY, John moved to NJ at a young age where he was raised in Old Bridge. After graduating from Cedar Ridge High School, John worked as a truck driver for over 45 years with both Consolidated Freight and more recently ABF Freight Systems, where he was a teamster with Local 478 and Local 560, respectively. He was a hardworking man who loved spending time with his family. John battled until the end, never letting the disease get the best of him. He was a true warrior in all regards who will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
John is predeceased by his parents John and Lorraine Cafarella, and his brothers Michael and Joseph Cafarella. Surviving is his beloved wife of 33 years Traci Cafarella of Parlin; his loving daughters Allison Cafarella and her fiancée Aniello Ferrara of Old Bridge, Haley Cafarella of Parlin, and Ashley Cafarella and her boyfriend Andrew Rodriguez of Parlin; his siblings and their spouses Bob and Alicia Cafarella of Parlin, Donna and Danny Raymond of PA, Lorraine and John Leonard of PA, and Barbara and Phil Iovino of Parlin; his mother-in-law Sandra Steinhausen of Matawan; his dog and best friend Cooper; as well as many dear nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place at 10am on Wednesday at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with burial to immediately follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in Jamesburg.
Calling hours are scheduled at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm.
