Obituary for John Barnes Sr.
John Barnes, Sr. age 70 of Old Bridge passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11th at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Newark he had resided in Old Bridge for the past 17 years. Before his retirement he was employed as an auto parts delivery driver for Norword Auto Parts in Morgan for 15 years.
He is predeceased by his parents Herbert and Agnes, his son John Jr, and his brother Edward. Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Marie Gelpke Barnes, his daughters Paula Barnes of South Amboy, Debbie Paczkowski of South Amboy, and Tammy Barnes and her wife Lauren of Old Bridge, his grandchildren Tiffany, Frankie, Chase, Brayden, Jameson, Donovan and Paisley, his brother Fred Barnes and his wife Betty and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4pm to 8pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with a 6pm Prayer service. A private cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in John’s name to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org/donate.
