South River
Joao Sarabando, age 89 of South River, passed away Sunday December 15, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Gafanha Boa Hora, Portugal, he had lived in South River for many years. Before his retirement, Joao worked as a machine operator for Pfizer/Quiley in Old Bridge. He was a communicant of Corpus Christi RC Church in South River.
He is predeceased by his wife Rosa and his brother Manuel Sarabando. Joao was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Surviving are his children Humbelina O’Brien and her husband Kevin, Maria Celeste and her husband Tony, his grandchildren Brittany, Anthony and Kalina, and his great-granddaughter Eliana Rose.
Funeral services will be Thursday 8:45am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Ave South River with a 9:30am funeral mass at Corpus Christi RC Church in South River.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm.
