Obituary for JoAnn Okie

JoAnn  Okie
Jo Ann Okie, 78, of Clearwater, FL died peacefully in her sleep on April 14, 2019. Jo Ann was born in NYC in August of 1940 moving with her family to NJ when she was teenager. After starting a family, she settled in Parlin, NJ until moving to Clearwater in the Spring of 1992.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Neumann, her beloved son Michael Okie and her siblings Liz Holliman, Patricia Fester, Paul Neumann, Carl Neumann, Martha Boyle and William Neumann. Surviving are her sisters Veronica (Ronnie) Farley - Clearwater, FL, Nancy Gillen - Woodland Park, NJ, Kathleen Owens - Clearwater, FL and her brother, Kevin Moriarty - Redington Shores, FL – and too many nieces and nephews to list.

Jo Ann is also survived by her children, Donna Pepperdine - Kenosha, WI, Debra Spano - Parlin, NJ, Ann Marie Okie - Clearwater, FL and Sharon Okie -Freehold, NJ. Jo Ann also leaves a loving legacy of 9 grandchildren, Nicole, Amanda, Alyson, Abigail, Patrick, Matthew, Olivia, Meredith and Sara and 3 great grandchildren, Ellie, Ryder and Rylie.

Jo Ann worked as a bookkeeper, retiring from Lincare after 17 years of service in April of 2014. Her golden years were spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren both in NJ and FL. Spare time was spent searching for words, reading murder mysteries and watching Lifetime movies. Many family members enjoyed delicious holiday meals hosted by Aunt Jo Ann. She will be missed beyond words.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 3pm to 6pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, NJ with services scheduled at the funeral home for 5pm.
