Gerard “Jerry” Scheider, age 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 14, 2019 with his loving family by his side at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Jerry resided in Morgan for over 40 years. He proudly served in the US Navy and enjoyed being a former Coach for the Morgan-Parlin Panthers for many years. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, veteran, coach, storyteller, and so much more. He will be missed by all who knew him as - Dad, Pop Pop, Uncle J, Coach Scheider or Mr. S.

He is predeceased by his parents Paul & Catherine and his four siblings, Catherine, Paul, Marie & Elizabeth. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Margaret Scheider, children Gerard (wife Dana), Cheryl, Mark, Christopher (wife Jessica) & Stephanie (husband Daniel), and grandchildren Nicolas, Brittany, Meagan, Justin & Francesca. As well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 19th at 8:45am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with a 9:30am Mass at St Bernadettes Church, 20 Villanova Road, Parlin. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery in Parlin. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, February 18th from 3pm-7pm.
