James J. Tumminello, age 86 of Sayreville, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021 at home, with his loving family by his side. Born in Staten Island, NY, he moved to Sayreville, NJ in 1977 to raise his family with his beloved wife Rose. Before his retirement, James worked for Brooklyn Union Gas Co. as a director of operations in customer service inquiries. James loved nothing more than spending time with and caring for his family and enjoying his adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and so much more.
He is predeceased by his parents Gaetano & Giovanna Tumminello as well as his siblings Sarah, Genevive, Rose, Sonny, Mary, and Frank and his sister-in-law Arlene Tumminello.
Surviving are his wife Rose of 59 years, his children and their spouses Joanna & John DeMild, Victoria & Gerald Hunkele, Thomas & Joan Marie Tumminello, Rosemarie & Joseph Alessi and James Tumminello & Dr. Harry Ramos, his grandchildren and their spouses John III, Amanda & Steven, James & Gabrielle, Joseph, Zachary, Jayson, Jenna Rose and Kaitlyn, his great-grandchildren Lucas, John IV, Jackson, Ella and Dean, his siblings Florence DeNicola, Thomas & Theresa Tumminello, Michael Tumminello, and Charles & Linda Tumminello, his sister-in-law Rosemarie Tumminello, his dog Cody and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be Thursday 8:30am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with a 9:30am Mass at Our Lady of Victories Church in Sayreville. Burial to follow at New Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
