Obituary for James Jack Giffin

James Jack Giffin, age 90 entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Newark, Jack grew up in Kearny, NJ where he met his beautiful wife Alice. He moved to Old Bridge, NJ where he resided for the past 61 years. During his 42 years at Public Service, Jack served as the Union President of Local IBEW 854 at Essex Generating Station and at Sewaren Generating Station Local 1673. He also served his community as one of the founding members of the Madison Park First Aid Squad.
Jack is predeceased by his daughter Karen Giffin and his son in law Donald Watson. Surviving are his wife of 65 years Alice Giffin, his children and their spouses; Matthew and Deborah Giffin, Susan and Skip Faynor, Diane Watson, Lisa and John Winkler and Maura and Jose Zargo. Jack also left a legacy of 18 grandchildren: Dori, Dave, Megan, Ashley, Sean, Leah, Jacqueline, Nicole, Colleen, Kyle, Claire, Jessie, Caitlyn, John, Bridget, Joseph, Evan and Luke. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren: Taylor, Nate, Jacob, Julia, Brendon, Jenna, Alex, Levon and Madilyn. As well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly.

Jack’s hobbies included building and maintaining an aviary for his canaries, which we continue to enjoy. Creating a wonderful train village, and of course his beloved New York Giants.

Jack was loved for his big personality, and his ability to light up a room. All who knew him loved him dearly, and he will be greatly missed. Some people are just outstanding human beings, and Jack was one of them.
