Obituary for Helen Wanson (Toth)

South River
Helen Wanson (Toth), age 97, of South River, peacefully passed away at The Elms of Cranbury on Friday, February 17, 2023, with her loving daughter at her side. Born in South River to the late Joseph and Helen Toth, Helen was a proud lifelong resident of the borough. Before her retirement, Mrs. Wanson was employed as a bookkeeper and accountant for many years with Brodsky & Sons Textiles in South River. She also worked at the South River Office on Aging. She was a longtime member of the Sayreville Columbiette’s and the South River VFW, loved trips to Atlantic City, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Helen is predeceased by her beloved husband Alexander Wanson. Surviving are her loving children and their spouses Audrey and John Loyer of South River, and Wayne and Cindy Wanson; her grandchildren Lance Loyer (Jen) of Arkansas, Shaun Loyer (Danielle) of Hightstown, and Kimberly, Nicole, and Sheri Wanson; as well as 8 dear great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30am from the M.A. Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Ave, South River with a 10am mass at St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church. Burial will follow at St. Stans Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will take place on Monday from 4pm to 8pm.
