Helen C. Sommers, age 90, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020, at Sunrise Assisted Living, in East Brunswick, N.J. Born in Bayonne, September 7, 1929 to Benjamin and Sophie Urban, she has resided in South Amboy and Sayreville then living in Marlboro for 30 years before moving to East Brunswick 2 years ago.
She is predeceased by her husband John W. Sommers in 2005 her daughter Barbara Toomey in 2001, her parents Benjamin & Sophie Urban her brother Joseph Urban and her sister Loretta Sunchuck. Surviving are her son John “Jake” Sommers of South Amboy, her granddaughters Tracey Sommers and Bernadette Donato and he husband Albert, her great grandchildren Niccolas, Olivia Donato and Makeila Pallente, and her brother Edward Urban. Helen is also survived by her son in law William Toomey and former daughter in law Louise Sommers.
All services are private due to the COVID-19 federal restrictions on public gatherings under the direction of the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin, N.J. 08859 Private entombment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum Ridge Avenue, North Arlington, N.J.
