Gerald D. Estrada, age 73 of Parlin, passed away peacefully at his home. Born in Perth Amboy, he had lived in Parlin for 47 years. Before his retirement, Jerry worked as a Master Mason. He was a proud US Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968. He was at Khe Sanh during the Tet offensive. He was wounded twice during his tour.
He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Amelia Estrada, and stepfather Glenwood Cottrell. Surviving is his beloved wife of 52 years, Sandra Bassak Estrada, and his loving children Joseph and his wife Christine, Yvonne Jamieson and her husband Kevin, his cherished grandchildren Elizabeth Bernath, Lindsey and Ryan Jamieson, his siblings Nancy Homan, Elaine Sullivan and her husband John, Leslie Guido and her husband George, Joseph and his wife Denise and many loving nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4pm to 8pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane in Parlin, New Jersey. Funeral services will be Friday 10am at the funeral home, with the burial to follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery on Old Bridge Turnpike in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that you donate to the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter #10, to which he belonged, at 527 O’Donohue Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 or any veteran organization of your choosing.
