Obituary for George Thomas Antonelli

Parlin
George Thomas Antonelli, age 66, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, peacefully passed away at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick on Thursday, February 23, 2023, with his loving family at his side. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Thomas Antonelli and Muriel Antonelli LaBatto, George moved to Parlin over 40 years ago where he has lived ever since. After graduating from New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, he entered the workforce, employed with Citigroup located at 111 Wall St. in lower Manhattan. He joined them as a young man and worked his way up to Vice President of the Technological Division.

George was very active in his community. He was a 4th Degree Knight and Past Grand Knight with the St. Bernadette Knights of Columbus Council 11214, as well as former president and captain with the First Aid Squad of Madison Park. He was most proud of his service as a volunteer fireman with Madison Park Fire Department for over 20 years, having previously served as Fire Chief. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, godfather, cousin, and friend and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years Natalie Antonelli of Parlin; his loving brother Anthony Antonelli of Staten Island, NY; his father-in-law and his wife Stanley and Halyna Jakubowycz of Brick; his mother-in-law Maria Dziuba of Manalapan; his sisters-in-law and their husbands Helene and Michael DeRisi of Colonia and Leslie and Patrick Stivale of Freehold; 5 nieces & nephews and 3 great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins; his loving cat Cotton; as well as many dear friends.

Visitation hours at the funeral home will take place on Tuesday, February 28 from 4pm to 8pm with services from the Knights of Columbus and Madison Park Fire Department throughout the evening.

Funeral services are scheduled for 8:45am on Wednesday, March 1 from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with a 9:30am Catholic Mass at St. Bernadette RC Church in Parlin. Burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in East Brunswick.
