Obituary for Frank P Zagata

Sayreville
Frank P. Zagata, age 97 of Sayreville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sayreville, he was a lifelong borough resident. Frank was a machinist by trade and worked for Carborundum Co. and Johnson and Johnson Personal Products in Milltown. He also taught Machine Shop at Sayreville High School. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy during World War II. Frank was a member of the Sayreville VFW Post 4699. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church in Sayreville where he was a member of the St. Stan’s Seniors and their Holy Name Society.
Growing up, Frank enjoyed playing baseball and crabbing. In his retirement, he enjoyed watching sports, reading, taking trips to Atlantic City, and telling stories of old.
He is predeceased by his parents Peter and Katherine Zagata, his beloved wife Theresa, his son David Zagata, his brothers Louis, Sam and Walter Zagata, and his sister Cecelia Pasterick.
Surviving are his son Thomas Zagata and his wife Patricia, his daughter-in-law Carol Zagata, his grandchildren Craig Zagata and his wife Allison, Ronald Kuran and his wife Lynn, his great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Christopher, Ben, Michael and Avery and many other loving relatives and friends who will miss his dearly.
Funeral services will be Friday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street Sayreville, with a 9:00am Mass to follow at St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church in Sayreville. Burial will take place at St. Stan’s Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 3pm to 7pm.
