Obituary for Francis "Frank" Matarangolo

Francis J. (Frank) Matarangolo, age 86, of the South Amboy, peacefully passed away at his home on Monday, March 15, 2021 with his loving wife by his side. A native of South Amboy, he was a graduate of Middlesex County Vocational School in Perth Amboy and served 4 years in the U.S. Airforce serving in Korea and Japan. He was employed for 25 years with National Lead in Sayreville as a Lab Tech and BASF Corp. in South Brunswick for 15 years before his retirement in 1999. He was a member of St. Bernadette’s Church in Parlin and a member of St. Mary’s Food Pantry and also a member of the South Amboy Senior Citizens Club and was a avid Bocce player. Frank was a great Yankees fan.

Francis is predeceased by his parents Samuel & Katherine Matarangolo and his brother Joseph who died in 1998. Surviving is his beloved wife of 62 years Mary Ann (Britt); his adored children and their spouses Cathy & Craig Biesiada of South Amboy and Susan Schween of Freehold; he was affectionately known as “Pop” and loved by his grandchildren; Dr. Brittany Biesiada and her husband Dr. Patrick Love of Freehold and Nicholas Biesiada of South Amboy and Samantha Schween of Freehold and Daniel Schween of Old Bridge and several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Visitors are welcome to celebrate Frank’s life on Thursday from 9am to 10:30am at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin. A funeral mass will take place at 11am at St. Bernadette’s Church in Parlin. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Frank’s name to the St. Mary’s Food Pantry, 256 Augusta Street.
