Emily Pfeifer (Wysocki), loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away at her residence in Monroe Township, New Jersey, on Saturday, September 16. She was 103 years old. Born in South River, New Jersey, Emily graduated from South River High School in 1938 and worked at DuPont in Sayreville before marrying Ralph Pfeifer, owner of the Wysocki Market on Whitehead Avenue.
She was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Adele Wysocki, her husband Ralph, her son Thomas, and five sisters. Surviving are her children Gay Martin (Joseph), her son Ralph (Gail); her grandchildren, Robert Martin, R. Patrick Pfeifer (Jill), and Casey Pfeifer; her great grandchildren, Emily and Elizabeth Martin, and Hale, Ralph, and Linus Pfeifer; and her nieces and nephews, Terry, Dick, and Kevin Kelly, Carroll Terranova, Joyce Wagner, Jack Pfeifer, Beverly Albrecht, and Deby Frame.
Emily loved the beach in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, and enjoyed shopping, playing pinochle and solitaire, watching Notre Dame sports on television, and playing the piano. A woman of great energy, elegance, and taste, her sense of style in decorating her home and in selecting her clothing were impeccable. But it was to her family that Emily devoted her life and her love. She hosted wonderful holiday dinners where she prepared delicious food and drink. Everyone enjoyed coming to Whitehead Avenue. She kept the holidays warm and her family together. Emily, the elegant matriarch of the family, will be greatly missed.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
