Parlin
Elizabeth “Betty” O’Leary age 98 of the Parlin section of Sayreville passed away peacefully on Sunday December 27, 2020 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Easton Pennsylvania on December 22, 1922 to Harold & Bessie Richards she has resided in Parlin since 1957. Betty was a very active and charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Parlin where she played the organ and acted as secretary and was on the church council and taught Sunday School for many years. She worked with the Little Peoples Day School at the church and spent a great deal of time during their plays.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband 40 years Edward F. O’Leary, and her sister Mildred Roberta Clements. Surviving are her children and their spouses Elaine Grimshaw of Parlin and Edmund & Kathleen O’Leary of Cranford, her granddaughter and their husbands Patricia & Adam Dickinson and Donna & Matt Brophy and her great grandchildren Connor, Lana and Jack.
Callings hours at the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street, Sayreville N.J. will be held Thursday from 9:30am to 11am followed by an 11am prayer service at the funeral home with burial to follow at Shoreland Memorial Park, Hazlet. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in Betty’s name be made Messiah Lutheran Church 3091 Bordentown Avenue, Parlin, N.J. 08859.
