Obituary for Edward J Marks

Edward J. Marks, age 82 of the Parlin section of Old Bridge passed away peacefully at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Born in Queens, NY he had resided in Parlin for the past 54 years. Before his retirement he was employed as an electrician for Sunshine Biscuits in Sayreville for many years. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War and was a member of the Sayreville American Legion Post 211. Edward was a member of St Bernadette’s Parish and had been active as a Eucharistic Minister, usher and other activities, was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #8478 where he served as Grand Knight and District Deputy He was also a Faithful Navigator of Monsignor Brady 4th Degree Assembly #67 of South Amboy. He was a life member of the Madison Park Fire Department and was a Fire Commissioner for Old Bridge Township, was a boy Scout Leader for Troop 61 Madison Park and also coached Madison Park Little League for 5 years.

He is predeceased by his parents Walter and Catherine and his siblings Walter Marks and Rita Doyle. Surviving are his beloved wife the former Anne Harvey, his sons and their spouses Edward Jr and Kathleen Marks and Walter and Katherine Marks, his grandchildren Elise Lewis, Nicole Marks, Melissa Marks, Trudy Marks and Christopher Marks, his step-grandchildren Michael and Patrick Ward, his brother John Marks and his wife Patricia, his sister Jean Cohen and his sister in law Jane Marks.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane with a 9:30am Mass at St Bernadette RC Church in Parlin. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in East Brunswick.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 3-8pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Edward’s name to the St Bernadette’s Church Restoration Fund.
