Obituary for Edward Barwikowski

Sayreville
Edward Barwikowski, age 66, of Parlin, peacefully passed on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Rozynsk, Poland to the late Mietek and Czeslawa Barwikowski, Edward immigrated to South Amboy in 1985 where he later raised his family. He and his wife have since moved to Parlin, living there for the past 16 years. After receiving his architectural degree while in Poland, Mr. Barwikowski initially worked as a mechanic at Sunshine Biscuits when first moving to New Jersey. After the factory closed, he was employed as a drafting agent/architect until his recent retirement, most recently with Kacmarsky Architectural Group in Edison.

Edward aka Edek aka Eddy as known to his loved ones, was very active in life, always keeping busy until his last day home. You would often find him out walking, gardening or picking tomatoes with his grandson Caleb, the apple of his eye. Edziu loved sightseeing throughout the years with his “Elunia”. Only two years removed from his native land, he taught his son how to read and write in English. They spent endless nights doing homework putting sentences together during his second year in America. Dziadzia, as he was affectionately known, enjoyed good food and was a great cook. He lived for the weekend and having his family share a meal with him. He had secret spices which consisted of Taco Bell hot sauce and soy. Whenever questioned what’s for dinner? He’d reply “chicken” (she (Gosia) will never know). He loved dancing and music. “Alexa play Andrea Bocelli” The Three Stooges always made him laugh. He was hardworking, selfless, caring, and always put his family ahead of himself. He spent his life helping others because that’s what he loved to do. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Edek is survived by his beloved wife of over 40 years Ela Barwikowski of Parlin; his loving children Martin Barwikowski of Hoboken, and Margaret Revels and her husband Matthew of Clark; his dear grandson Caleb Revels; his mother-in-law Maria Bikowska of Poland; and his sisters Winka and Krystyna both of Poland.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:30am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane Parlin, followed by a 10am mass at Sacred Heart RC Church in South Amboy. Burial will immediately follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
