Sayreville
Doris Ann Lee (nee Isabella), age 95 of Sayreville, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge, with her loving family by her side. Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Sayreville and Parlin for over 65 years. Prior to her retirement, Doris worked as an administrative assistant with the NJ State Police. Doris was a devout Catholic with a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother. She was long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church and Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her large family.
Married in 1948, Doris is predeceased by her husband Edward Lee, her daughter Sharon Lee, her sisters Marie Henryk and Marion Brower, and her brothers James, Vincent, Edward, and Joseph Isabella.

Surviving are her devoted children, Edward Lee and his wife Vaughn, Debra Kurzawa and her husband Larry and Michael Lee and his wife Mary. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Edward and Eileen Lee, Matthew Lee and his fiancé Crystal, Shailin and Matt Cope, Krista and Pat Pelliccia, Kara and Dominick Liloia, Kate and Matt Brennan, Meghan and Mike Rabasca, Michael and Nicole Lee, Matthew and Jennifer Lee, Mark and Bridget Lee and Jessica Lee. Doris is also survived by her 17 great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.

Doris was lovingly referred to as Nana by her 11 grandchildren and as GG by her 17 great-grandchildren. She was extremely proud of her Italian heritage and taught her family how to make her Sunday gravy. Sundays were special days for Doris and her family.

Doris was known by all for her always smiling face and laugh. She was a skilled bridge player, often playing long into the afternoon in her initial retirement years. She also enjoyed many bus trips to Atlantic City with the Sayreville Seniors. She loved playing church bingo in her younger years and continued to play weekly bingo, Rummikub and cards with her friends at Gillette Manor, where she lived since 2013.

A private funeral Mass in her memory will be held for her family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doris Lee’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org/donate.
