Chester J. Groncki Jr., age 77, of Sayreville, passed away Friday January 15, 2016, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Born in South River, he resided in Sayreville for most of his life. Chet worked for Linden Motor Freight for 39 years as a truck driver and warehouse manager, retiring in 1999. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church in Sayreville. Chet loved to travel, especially to England, and had a fun-loving temperament, especially with children and dogs.
Chet is predeceased by his parents Chester Sr. and Viola Wisniewski Groncki, and his brother Joseph Groncki.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Barbara Skurka Groncki, his brother Robert Groncki , his sister Marcy Larson, his niece Kathy Groncki Britt, his great nephew Michael Britt, his great niece Jennifer Britt Cashman, his great-great nephew T.J. Cashman, his great-great niece Gwyneth Cashman and many close relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 8:15 am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, with a 9 a.m. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church in Sayreville. Burial will take place at St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery in Sayreville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Chet’s name may be made to the St. Stanislaus Kostka School Endowment Fund, 221 MacArthur Ave., Sayreville, NJ 08872.
