Obituary for Chester M Dubil

Chester M. Dubil, 63, of Cape Coral, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at HealthPark Medical Center, Fort Myers. Born in South Amboy, he was a longtime resident there before moving to Cape Coral in 2012.

A 1977 graduate of Sayreville War Memorial High School, Chester was a standout athlete in Football, Wrestling, and Track and Field, where he was a pole vaulter. He joined the United States Navy in 1977, serving as a sonar technician aboard a ballistic missile submarine, the USS Tecumseh (SSBN 628). He was honorably discharged in 1981, and was later hired as a Police Officer for the Borough of Sayreville in 1986, serving until his retirement in 2008. Primarily a patrolman, he had various duties throughout his career, and entered retirement with the respect and friendship of his colleagues.

Chester loved being on the water, and spent as much time as he could with his family and friends aboard the many boats he owned though the years, both in New Jersey and in Florida. He was a trusted and reliable friend to anyone who knew him; whether you were a friend asking for advice or a colleague seeking backup on a police call, Chester could be relied upon to “have your back”…the first guy you called when you had a problem, and the last guy to leave until it was solved.

He was predeceased by his father, Chester, in 1964, and by his mother, Margaret (Peg) in 2004. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Tamara (Breen) Dubil; as well as his siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

In keeping with his wishes, Chester was cremated privately. A Memorial Visitation celebrating his life will be held on June 8, 2022 from 6-8pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin. Chester spent a great many hours at Ground Zero after the events of 9/11, and the family asks that to honor that service and to assist those still dealing with the aftermath to please consider contributions to Tunnel-Towers Foundation at www.t2t.org .
