Former Sayreville Court Administrator Cecelia P. Wisniewski passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2023. She was 93 years old.
Born in the Melrose section of Sayreville on December 8, 1929, to Joseph J. and Helen (nee Rosinski) Pero, she was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Felix E. Wisniewski and sisters Clara Pilch and Regina Kolb. She is survived by her two sons, Felix and his wife Mary Beth, John and his wife Deborah, five grandchildren: Meghan, Emily, Sarah, Felix and Rachel, many nieces and nephews and her long-time live-in care giver, Yvonne Ampomah.
She grew up on Oak Street in the Melrose section of the Borough of Sayreville where her childhood playmates included her neighbor and future husband, Felix E. Wisniewski. She loved to travel to her summer home in Manasquan where she spent countless hours on the beach and on her front porch with her family and friends.
She worked as a secretary at NL Industries in the Melrose section of Sayreville and then later for various attorneys and realtors. Afterwards she was Secretary to the Sayreville Industrial Commission and then was appointed as the Sayreville Municipal Court Administrator from 1971 until her retirement in 2000.
She was deeply involved in the spiritual and civic life of the Sayreville community. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in South Amboy where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was elected a Democratic Committeewoman in Sayreville District 14 from 1974 until 1984. She served on and was the long time Chair of the Sayreville Shade Tree Commission from 1956 until 1984. As Chair of the Shade Tree Commission, she was frequently called upon to speak at statewide and regional conferences of Shade Tree officials and arborists.
Family and friends may visit on Monday February 27 between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home at 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, NJ .
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 28, 2023 at 9:15 a.m. at the Funeral Home with a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 531 Washington Avenue, South Amboy, NJ . Interment will be alongside her late husband Felix at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Johnson’s Lane, Parlin, NJ
