Obituary for Carmen Montalvo

Carmen Martinez Montalvo, age 94 of Sayreville passed away peacefully at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. The night before Carmen passed, she told her daughters her husband Julio would be picking her up at 7 pm to go dancing. On Friday, June 18, 2021 Julio couldn’t wait any longer and came to get Carmen at 6:55 pm for their eternal dance. Born in Puerto Rico, she had resided in Sayreville, NJ since 1997. Before her retirement she worked for the City of New York as a supervisor. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, friend and so much more. She will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is predeceased by her adored husband Julio Armando Montalvo in November of 2020, her great grandson Caiden James and her 7 siblings. Surviving are her much loved daughters Lillian Montalvo-Duffy and her husband Thomas Duffy of Jamesburg, NJ; Agnes Montalvo of Newtown, PA and Wilma Montalvo of Sayreville, NJ; her grandchildren Julie Marie Donovan, Zsea Aleixandra Ortiz, Laura Anne Cook, Cathy Bobbie Vargas, Antonio David Romero, Keegan Alberto Ortiz and Daniel Fernando Romero; her great grandchildren Amya, Connor, Christian, Cataleya, Kameron, Gary and Iyla Joy; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-cousins.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Monday from 5pm to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:15 am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with an 11 am Mass at Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Parlin. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery in Parlin. A funeral repass will be held at Camillo's Restaurant, 31 MacArthur Ave. Sayreville.
