Belkis L. (Mateo) Alvarez, age 82 of Sayreville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at her home. Born in Santo Domingo she had resided in Sayreville for the past 34 years. Before her retirement she worked hard owning her own cleaning service and beauty salons. She was also a nurse’s aide for 10 years at John L. Montgomery Nursing Home in Freehold. Belkis enjoyed playing Bingo and especially loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was a member of the St Stans Seniors and Sayreville Seniors Tuesday Club.

She is predeceased by her parents Hippolito and Mercedes Mateo, her first husband Lionel Izquierdlo, her second husband Manuel Alvarez and her 6 brothers. Surviving are her loving children Ena Elizabeth “Lisa” Izquierdlo of Del Ray Beach, FL, Frederick Izquierdlo of Parlin and Kizzy Alvarez- DeSantis and her husband Rennie, her grandchildren Nichole Izquierdlo, Rennie DeSantis, Jamie DeSantis and Arianna DeSantis, her brother Octavio Mateo of FL, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends that were family.

Calling hours will held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 4 to 8pm at the Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main St, Sayreville, NJ with a prayer service at 7pm. A private cremation will follow.
