Obituary for Barbara Koons
Barbara Ann Harpersberger Koons, age 82 of the Parlin section of Sayreville passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA she had resided in Plymouth, PA before moving to Sayreville 55 years ago. Before her retirement in 2009 Barbara was employed as an Assembly Worker for Transfer Print Foils in East Brunswick for 25 years.
Surviving are her son John Koons of Santa Barbara, CA, her daughters Michelle Uveges and her husband Joe of Sayreville and Darlene Koons of Sayreville, her grandson Nicholas Bernardi of Sayreville and her brother John “Bud” Harpersberger of Myrtle Beach, SC.
She loved cooking meals for family and guests at get-togethers, and her greatest joy was spending time with her three children, her grandson, and son-in-law.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 3pm to 7pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with a Prayer Service at 6pm. A private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Barbara’s name to the Red Cross. Due to Covid-19 regulations, there is a limit of 100 guests allowed in the building at once and masks must be worn at all times.
