Alexander L. Herman, age 79 of Sayreville, passed away on Thursday, January 27th, 2022 at his home. Born in New Brunswick, he had lived in Edison , and then Sayreville until the time of his death. Before his retirement, Alex worked for the Township of Edison as a sanitation worker for over forty years. "Grandpa", as he was affectionately known, thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family at many sporting events, especially at Wall Stadium Speedway.

He is predeceased by his parents Alexander and Emily Herman. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Joanne Grillo, his sons Anthony and his wife Dorothy of Sayreville, James and his wife Melissa of South Amboy, 5 grandchildren; Nicole, Christina, Heather, Mark, and Adam, 2 great grandchildren; Leah and Paris, his siblings and their spouses Allen and Arlene Herman of South Brunswick, Kenny and Susan Herman of Galloway Twp, Linda Warenberg of Missouri and Dave and Carmela Herman of Jackson and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Calling hours at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, will be Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm. A prayer service will take place at 7pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. A private cremation will follow.
