Obituary for Frieda Bastek (Offenburger)

Frieda  Bastek (Offenburger)
Sayreville
Frieda Bastek, age 92 of Sayreville passed away peacefully on Friday February 3, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick with her loving and devoted family at her side. Born in South River she has resided in Sayreville for the past 71 years. Before her retirement in 1973 she was employed as a seamstress for Harry Berman’s in South River for 15 years. Frieda was a communicant of Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church in Sayreville where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She was also a member of Our Lady of Victories Senior Citizens and Sayreville Senior Citizens Thursday Club.

She is predeceased by her husband John P. Bastek in 2003, her daughter in law Irene Bastek, her son in law Robert MacKie and her siblings Charles, Frederick, Francis, Raymond, Henry and Richard Offenburger, Catherine Scupp, Marion Boyce and Bertha Burgess. Surviving are her children Bernadette MacKie of Spotswood, Barbara & Charles Coogan of Sayreville and Bruce & Lisa Bastek of Monroe, her grandchildren Cory & Barbara Bastek, Bonnie Jean MacKie, Robert & Kimberly MacKie and Heather & Steve Hogrebe, Caroline Coogan, Daniel Coogan, Nicole & Tim Grover, Ashley & Frank Steinhauser, and Leah Srolovitz & Mike Molchan, and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street Sayreville followed by a 9:30am mass at Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church with burial to follow at New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin.

Visitation hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Letters of condolence, direction and completed funeral arrangements can be found at www.maliszewskimemorialhome.com.
