Obituary for Laurens R. Bloch

Laurens R. Bloch, age 49 formally of the Parlin section of Sayreville passed away on January 13, 2017 in Costa Rica. Larry began swimming at the age of five in YMCA programs and went on to be a YMCA national champion at the age of 17, setting records along the way. He attended Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he achieved All American success as a swimmer. Upon graduation, he entered the insurance industry and was employed in various management positions with New York Life and AIG.
He was a devoted father and an avid Tar Heel Fan.
Larry is predeceased by his mother, Charlotte in 2015. Surviving are his wife Alexandra, his sons Spencer and Grant and his step-sons Jakob and Joshua Cumins. Also surviving are his father Larry, his brother Chris and his wife Kathy and his grandmother Sophie Bloch. He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.
A memorial mass will be held on Monday February 6, 2017, 11am at Sacred Heart R. C. Church in South Amboy. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
