Obituary for Walter G Gnacek

Sayreville
Walter Gnacek age 94 of Sayreville passed away Thursday August 21, 2014 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Sayreville he was a life long borough resident. During World War II he proudly served his country in the United States Navy, he was a member of Sayreville VFW Post 4699 and American Legion Post 211. Before his retirement in 1976 he was employed for 30 years at National Lead Industries in Sayreville as an instrument mechanic. Walter was a communicant of Saint Stanislaus Kostka R. C. Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.

He is predeceased by his wife Edwina Lapa Gnacek in 2013, his parents John & Mary Gnacek and his brothers Edward and Joseph Gnacek and his sisters Genevieve Slater and Catherine Gnacek. Surviving are his children and their spouses Lenny & Frances Gnacek of Piscataway, JoAnn & Robert Conway and LouAnn & Frank Godrey of Sayreville, his grandchildren Renee Giambrone Michael Conway Jr., Keri Siliwono, Nicholas Godrey and Brad Gnacek, his great granddaughter Hailey Grace Giambrone and his sister Josephine Kline of Sayreville.

Funeral services will be held Monday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street Sayreville followed by a 9am mass at Saint Stanislaus Kostka R. C. Church with burial to follow at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Sunday from 2pm to 5pm. The following groups will hold services Sunday at the funeral home; Saint Stanislaus Kostka Holy Name Society 2:30pm, Sayreville American Legion Post 211 3:30pm and VFW post 4699 4pm.
